Enteroglucagon


Enteroglucagon is a hormone found in the human body. It is secreted by the intestinal mucosal cells in the gastrointestinal tract. Enteroglucagon has 37 amino acids and differs from pancreatic glucagon in having a C-terminal octapeptide extension. It is classified as a peptide hormone.
Secretion and production

Enteroglucagon is produced in and secreted by the intestinal mucosal cells in the gastrointestinal tract. Its primary effect is to delay gastric emptying, and it has tropic effects on gut mucosa. Currently, there is no form of synthetic enteroglucagon.
