Stored In Hormones in use

Oxytocin – the Love Hormone

When it comes to couples being able to talk to each other in a positive and loving way, there is not much that can be done sometimes other than to hope for the best. Over the years relationship experts from all over the globe have strived to find the best way to encourage couples in conflict to discuss their problems without the talk becoming heated. There are many instances of relationship experts having trouble keeping some people in the room when a mediation discussion turns to sensitive issues. However, it seems that now there is hope for couples who are finding it hard to communicate, and it is all to do with hormones.

The hormone is Oxytocin. This particular hormone is known as ‘the love hormone’ in any case, but recent studies suggest that there is more to its name than we previously thought. In the study, a major experiment was carried out to test the theory that Oxytocin actually helps couples to interact in a more positive way.
Two sets of couples were involved in the study. In the one section of the study, couples were given Oxytocin intranasally. The other set of couples were given a substance intranasally too, but it was a placebo. Then they were tested.

Those couples that were given Oxytocin communicated better in the study, and were seen to have reduced stress levels at the end of the study.

While the scientists involved do not recommend the use of Oxytocin for prolonged periods, there is a definite belief that it helps to alleviate stressful interactions between humans.
