Types of Human Hormones
There are five chemical classifications of hormones found in the human body. The first is amine-derived hormones. Amine-derived hormones are derived from the amino acids tyrosine and tryptophan. The second is peptide hormones. Peptide hormones are made up of chains of amino acids. The third is steroid hormones. Steroid hormones are derived from cholesterol. The fourth is sterol hormones; they’re derived from vitamin D. The fifth is lipid and phospholipid hormones. Lipid hormones are derived from linoleic acid, and phospholipid hormones are derived from arachidonic acid.
